I think it should be the same as with JSPs: they are still supported, but there won't be any new features for them since there is a newer, better technology covering the same area. In the case of JSPs that's facelets, and for JSF's Managed Beans it's CDI.

Also, it would be very great to have some of your input posted on the JSF spec issue (see [1]), otherwise it may not be recognized by all EG members! Thanks!

Regards,
Jakob

[1] http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES_SPEC_PUBLIC-976Jakob Korherrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09577157295158174314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868595312516376692.post-37407735683175128172011-04-30T17:11:29.334+02:002011-04-30T17:11:29.334+02:00Please note that deprecating all the javax.faces.b...Please note that deprecating all the javax.faces.bean stuff doesn't mean that JSF is then strictly bound to CDI. The only dependency is on the EL spec.

You can still use Spring, guice or whatever other bean container you like. I honestly know no real world project (let aside simple samples and prototypes) which uses the JSF ManagedBean stuff for managing backing beans.

Of course, yes - it means that the JSF spec doesn't do all the stuff it used to do anymore. But that's actually a good thing. It should do what it can do best: providing a smart technology for creating the viewlayer for formular driven web applications.

LieGrue,
strubAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
